Innovating in a school where the success and well-being of our students is at stake is no easy task. On one hand, moving ideas from hallway conversations to effective practice school-wide requires the support and intrinsic motivation from all those most likely to feel the disruption. On the other hand, the flat structure and high degree of autonomy in schools offers amazing opportunities for creativity, risk-taking, and rapid change.
The Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) serves to help with this challenge, bringing the spirit and end results of our Strategic Plan to life in the form of self-selecting teams guided by teacher leaders who are passionate about fulfilling our Mission. It takes leaders who are willing to demonstrate their own understanding of courage, confidence, creativity, and compassion in and out of the classroom.
This blog is a space for all members of our TLC to ignite and fuel positive momentum for the changes underway at AISC. Any success, failure, a-ha, or reading reflection is welcome here as long as it is related in some way to our work around inquiry and our innovation teams.
This blog will be public and widely shared. There is no expectation that anybody contribute on a regular basis, however, I anticipate that many will recognize the power of something as simple as a keyboard and cursor to change minds. The American International School - Chennai is at the forefront of innovation in international education, and this blog is one of a growing number of places to showcase that.
